What a bunch of losers

I am new to the concept of SJ and the vapid Newspeak vocabulary of the left...but seriously, what a bunch of uptight wasters at the other forum.

I tried arguing with their mods on many subjects only to get 'permabanned' as they put it. I seriously wonder if any of those professionally-offended, dictionary-rewriting, soap-dodging weirdos have any contact with the real world at all?

Yo DBD. Good to see you here. And believe me, there have been many "permabans"* there far more egregious than yours. People walking on tiptoes who just didn't bow low enough and kept trying oh so politely to attain clarification beyond 'this isn't a debate forum and don't let the door hit your ass." (*And wtf is with this eschewing the word suspension in favor of 'ban,' which since the beginning of cybertime has meant just that; it was generally permanent. They do this at TR and elsewhere also. Newspeak?)

What I'm curious about is how long they will continue to find conversing only with those who think exactly as they do interesting. I thought-and still think-the moderation at JREF was bad, but these folks have taken 'our way or the highway' to a whole new level. You can actually be banned just for comments made on other sites! Looks like the first squad of the cyber thought police have arrived. We're all Schrodinger's Nazi thinkers?

Did you have the same username on the AtheismPlus forum? Care to share a link to your permaban? Hard to judge the fairness without a reference. Quite a few people have come here after being banned from the other forum. It gets better...

Seriously though, I'm from the left and I hope I don't resort to 'vapid newspeak'. This forum is interested in helping to promote equality and fairness and many other concepts of Social Justice.

I'm p. sure I know who DR is elsewhere, but as he chose to use a different name here I'll pm it to you null. If I'm right he was a mod in the evo forum at RDF and is quite knowledgeable in evolutionary science. But as you know, all it takes is to disagree with the 'uncool kids' there and not rescinding your position and seeing their 'gaslight' to get banned.

He was also treated badly at TR by the lulz shitposters, and this really pissed me off. Like you he's yet another Aussie, and a genuinely nice and intelligent guy. I do hope he posts here regularly, and we can discuss all the problems that can occur in a forum where there is no real moderation and the crazies are given free reign.

Um...it's probably generally poor form to answer on his behalf...but it's done now so...never mind. Not that I really NEEDED to know the user's other identity and I wasn't 'putting on my mod hat'. Just curiosity since the OP raised the issue they experienced on the other site.

I just read your exchanges with the pack at A+ on the thread you started about this site. It is hard to believe any who know how to operate a computer and write grammatically correct sentences can be so dense. I mean, I have to wonder if light bends around a few such as ceepolk and submor.

So I'm guessing by ceepolk's last post on your thread that you've been banned? If it hasn't already been done it can't be far off. I've never seen anyone continue to stand up to their smarmy comments who hasn't been banned there. You know the line; "this is not a debate forum." lol

I don't now buy that the A+ers left there are victims in any way. Most people I've know who have been victimized are not into public bullying, and those guys outdo TR in that department. You really should just ignore them null. They really aren't worth the effort you've made to try and explain why you started that thread.

I'm willing to bet when they have run off all who don't accept their rationales they will turn on each other. It has already started, and I really doubt that forum will be around very long. Most new members are quickly banned, and many who signed on at the start have left in disgust.

Yeah, I was banned. I wrote a quick message to the one remaining member on that site I had time for and said bye so that's fine. I figured it was coming from the point where I was asked what I wanted. It's a somewhat Orwellian thing to ask. Not a particularly honest way to deal with people though - ask a question that really doesn't ask anything specific.

No big deal though. I've seen much worse examples of piling onto people on that site. I have no problem with SubMor (who just seems a bit blind to the counter arguments) or even ceepolk (who proudly claims to make decisions on emotive reasons rather than rational ones). I think what I got out of that particular thread was that by keeping my cool and not flouncing I managed to get some decent conversation from a few of the more aggressive types. Obviously I think the final decision was duff - but that's their site, and their call.

I said what I had to say, and this site IS starting to get a few hits. I'd like to see a few more topics to discuss though, so let's see how we go after the weekend - once I've done some cleaning up around the structure and layout.
